9 Nov Mother Nature has presented us with a challenging year!! The year 2011 has been recorded as one of the cooler summers on record and has resulted in the harvest starting later than in previous years. This year we started harvesting on October 19th with our Gewurztraminer grapes, whereas in previous years we would begin harvesting in mid-September. Although this has been a challenging year, the warmer fall has allowed us to let the grapes hang on the vines for longer in order to ensure sufficient ripening.
